IPL Skin Photo Rejuvenation ★ Rockhampton

Man Thing advanced health, beauty and fitness treatments, Rockhampton AU

Hi and welcome. My name is Andrew Thompson. I've been working on human bodies for 30 years. I will be your therapist during your IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatment.

We all want clear skin, but nature has a way of sabotaging us with imperfections - sun damage, freckles, broken capillaries, and fine lines to name a few.

beauty treatments for older womenLuckily, IPL Photo Rejuvenation, also called IPL Skin Rejuvenation, can help set things right again.

IPL Photo Rejuvenation simply means 'to make the skin look younger using light'. At Man Thing, the technology I use is PTF, an advanced form of IPL, which treats a wide range of skin conditions:

The end result is improved skin texture and complexion. No pain relief is needed. Treatments feel warm but not unbearably so.

Call me on 4926 7778 or 0422 276 202 if you have any questions or to make a booking. You can also book online.

Have a brilliant day.

Andrew Thompson.

FAQ - IPL Skin Rejuvenation

I haven't had a skin treatment before. I'm not sure this is the type of treatment I need.

Sure, I totally get that. I've built a page listing all of the skin treatments that I offer, along with a concise description of what they are and what they do to help you make an educated decision.

Here are some links to check out:

What can I anticipate from an IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatment?

Over the days that follow, your skin will perhaps feel a little dry. Remember to moisturise and drink plenty of water. After a week or so, and assuming that you have not had excessive sun-exposure, your complexion should look clearer and your skin begin to feel a little firmer. This is an ongoing process over 7 to 8 weeks as new and clearer skin makes its way to the surface.

For treatments over heavily pigmented areas such as freckles or birth marks, those areas may turn very dark brown before flaking off or fading about a week later. This is normal. Don't pick at any flaking or scabs that might form. Just moisturise over the top of them.

Am I likely to be red after my IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, you may have significant pinkness in the treated area. This can last a few minutes or a few days. You can fast-track recovery by putting a cold pack on the area or just rolling a can of soft drink on your face. It usually doesn't take long to calm down.

Should I take pain killers or use numbing cream before my Photo Rejuve treatment?

Definitely DO NOT take any form of pain suppressant before any IPL treatment. Firstly, the treatments don't hurt so there is no need for pain killers. Secondly, I need to know if the treatment feels too warm etc and I rely in part on your feedback to prevent skin damage. If I suspect that a client is on paid meds or has been drinking alcohol, I will stop the treatment.

What type of Photo Rejuvenation should I get, and how many treatments will I need?

All IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatments will impact pigment, capillaries, and collagen to some extent. The end result will be a more balanced complexion with fewer blemishes and creases. However, if you have specific skin imperfections you want to address, I will hone in on those issues.

Can I apply skin care product and makeup after IPL Photo Rejuvenation?

Once the heat has left your skin, yes.

Why do you offer microdermabrasion combo prices?

If this is your first photo rejuve treatment, I do recommend that you begin with Diamond Microdermabrasion. A microderm treatment cleans away dead skin debris and blocked pores which can partially block the light and impact the efficacy of the treatment. Microderm also increases blood flow to the skin which helps transport nutrients and reparative materials to the treated area, which in turn helps with recovery time and skin repair.

For subsequent treatments, you may not need microderm before the treatment, or you can elect to do so anyway. The choice is yours, and there's no harm in having clean skin.

I have hair growing in the area I want treated with Photo Rejuve? Do I have to shave it off?

Yes. We don't want any hair in the way of the light, otherwise it will minimise the efficacy of the treatment.

Can I use depilatory cream instead of shaving before IPL Photo Rejuvenation?

No. Depilatory creams attack keratin and therefore damage the integrity of the skin, making it unsuitable for treatment. If you have used depilatory creams, wait for at least two weeks before attending a Photo Rejuvenation treatment.

Can I wax instead of shaving before an IPL Photo Rejuvenation session?

Yes, but wait for the skin to calm down as any skin rash may impact the results. Usually a day is sufficient.

I want to have a serum infusion before the treatment. Is this OK?

Clients sometimes choose to have an Intraceuticals Serum Infusion ahead of the treatment so that there is plenty of moisture and nutrients in the skin beforehand. If that's something you want to do, you need to leave a week between your serum infusion and the photo rejuve, as you will have too much moisture in the top of your skin otherwise.

Do I need to buy any after care products?

No. The only thing you need is a good sunscreen when outdoors.

Can I go to the gym/shopping etc after my Photo Rejuve treatment?

You can go about your normal activities but be sun smart throughout your course of treatments. Newly treated skin is more susceptible to sunburn than usual. This is due to the hyperstimulation of existing collagen and the production of new collagen as a result of the treatment.

Can I treat my facial hair as well during my Photo Rejuve treatment?

men's photo rejuvenation RockhamptonIf you are trying to treat a skin problem as well as remove facial hair in the same area, you should focus on a series of IPL Hair Removal treatments first instead of Photo Rejuve, particularly if the skin condition you are trying to correct is hyperpigmentation or fine lines.

It would be easy to sell you both treatments at the same time, and no doubt some places do, but you'll be wasting money.

This is because IPL Hair Removal treatments use part of the light spectrum (585 - 755 nM) which is very close or overlaps the frequencies used to treat pigment and collagen (520 - 585 nM). While there are other factors at play, such as depth and duration of the pulse, I have noticed over the past twenty or so years that clients ALWAYS see an improvement in skin clarity following a course of hair removal treatments, and that's why.

Assuming that you are a suitable candidate for hair removal, let's do that first if you are trying to improve overall skin clarity, and you will definitely save yourself time and money.

Capillaries are a little trickier as they require multiple passes over one small area, so they are not as heavily impacted during hair removal sessions as pigment and collagen. In the case of capillaries, yes I would recommend both treatments at the same time.

I've undertaken a course of Roaccutane. Will that affect my Photo Rejuve treatment?

Yes. Roaccutane can make your skin very photo-sensitive which in turn becomes a contraindication for treatment. You can commence IPL Photo Rejuve three months after finishing your course of Roaccutane.

What other medications are contraindications to treatment?

There are several strong antibiotics, anti-depressants, and malaria medications that make your skin overly sensitive to light. If any of your meds contain minomycin, minocycline, doxycycline, tetracycline, or St John's Wort, you may have to wait until you have finished your course of meds to avoid possible injury. This is not an exhaustive list of contraindications but we will go through your medical details when you come in for your consultation.
